Shelley Sapyta

How long you’ve been at Bookmasters: 27 years

Hobbies: Refinishing furniture and interior decorating. I’m also an animal lover, so I spend a lot of time with my dogs. I also love gardening and spending time with my kids and grandkids (family is everything to me!).

Favorite vacation spot: Cabo, Mexico!

What you like most about your job: Knowing my customer is happy with the end result.

Best publishing advice: Plan your marketing strategy before you do anything else. Also, educate yourself on publishing and find a good company who cares as much about your book as you do.

Sue Bray

How long you’ve been at Bookmasters: 21 years

Hobbies: Sewing, antique shopping and collecting, and I also enjoy the charity work I do at my local Elks lodge.

Favorite vacation spot: The beach, of course! I also enjoy going to historical locations.

What you like most about your job: Getting to know my customers. I always want you to get the product that you envision.

Best publishing advice: Don’t be afraid to ask questions. If I don’t know the answer, I will certainly help you find the answer!

Emily McQuate

How long you’ve been at Bookmasters: 13 years

Hobbies: Reading. I’ve always been a “bookworm” so I could not imagine a profession better suited to my interests.

What you like most about your job: It’s never repetitive. Because Bookmasters works with publishers in a wide variety of genres, I cannot recall a single day in the last 13 years that I did not learn something new and interesting from one of the publishers I work with. I enjoy assisting authors and publishers with the release of their titles, whether a book is a personal project planned for a small release or a worldwide release to major book wholesalers.

Best publishing advice: Create an outline of the items you need to have in place before and after a book’s publication date and to allow enough time to implement your plan.

Tim Leonhart

How long you’ve been at Bookmasters: 11 years

Hobbies: Watching Ohio State sports, the Cleveland Indians, and my grandkids’ sports.

Favorite vacation spot: Myrtle Beach.

What you like most about your job: I work with many really nice publishers.

Best publishing advice: You need a catchy title and a great looking cover. Your author bio and book description have to catch readers’ attention.

Sherry Ringler

How long you’ve been at Bookmasters: 30+ years

Hobbies: Playing piano, ice skating, and painting with oils.

Favorite vacation spot: Carmel-by-the Sea, California.

What you like most about your job: It’s such a pleasure being a part of the book industry and I enjoy working with the rich and diverse backgrounds of the people who are a part of it.

Best publishing advice: Make your titles valued products by choosing high-quality interior formatting and utilize professional, eye-catching cover designs.
