Introduction

It all started with a cardboard box. While organizing and cleaning my garage, I happened to open the box and came upon an old manuscript I had written a long time ago. It was a story about an advanced civilization from the past and had been stored in that box since the last time I lost interest in editing it. I took out the manuscript, blew off the dust, and went to work.

This book is the result of the original manuscript and describes the wonders of Atlantis, a great civilization that, whether real or legendary, is an inspiration for the future of our civilization. Engineering designing designs included in the appendices of this book are presented to illustrate how we may benefit from the vast knowledge that the Atlantians possessed.

The story began when my father, a businessman who enjoyed climbing and hiking, and I embarked on a trip more than 40 years ago into a jungle that has remained unchanged for more than a million years. My father had been asked to do a feasibility study for prospective investments in coffee plantations and cattle breeding. Our journey took us into an area that had been barely explored - the mysterious rain forest of Tablas, near the center of Bolivia. Before leaving, my father hired a porter to carry our luggage of his shoulders during the long walk. (Unknown to us, the porter was a superstitious man and often believed he saw UFOs!)

For days in advance, I dreamed about this adventure. I was excited as a Boy Scout before his first trip away from home. I knew I would experience things that I had never encountered before. Finally, the big day arrived.

Before we could reach the rain forest, we had to cross a series of tall and barren mountains. We would down long valleys and crested tall, cold mountaintops. My binoculars were a constant companion, as I didn't want to miss a thing.

On the first night of our trip, we stayed in a one-room stone house. After leaving there, we began a long descent into the tropical rain forest. The second night, which was one of continuous rain, we stayed at an old abandoned hut. The next morning, we realized that we had not seen a single human being or any trace of civilization along the way.

My father did not find anything useful for his study in this part of the jungle, so we began our return trip. We had a long climb up a rocky mountain and found ourselves tiring quickly. As we passed by a jagged outreach, we discovered a shallow cave and decided it was a good place to stop and spend our third night. This was where I had my first dream (in a series of many) about the mysteries of Atlantis, upon which this book is based.
