Excerpt This is a story of the mirror and me. I'm gonna tell it as clear as can be, I'm an eleven year old by the name of Karé. Every time I look in the mirror I ask, "Why me?" I'm a dark brother - darker than the darkest shade of brown. I'm from a place in South Africa called Cape Town. The way that I look, walk and talk is different. Other children say I'm strange; my parents say I'm gifted.
