About the Author

Although she pursued a career in landscape architecture after college at The University of Georgia, Knox’s passion for food stayed with her and she became intrigued with the process of plank grilling. She began to make her own planks, which developed into a new career in September 2003 when Knox founded Fire & Flavor with her husband. The company soon grew to offer a complete line of gourmet grilling products. With continued success, Fire & Flavor was named in Inc. magazine's annual Inc. 500 ranking of the fastest-growing private companies in the country in 2007. Knox’s culinary instincts and knack for creating approachable dishes led her to author her first cookbook, Gourmet Made Simple, which published in May 2008. Knox’s upcoming cookbook, Southern My Way: Simple Recipes, Fresh Flavor, provides contemporary takes on the traditional Southern dishes that she grew up eating and incorporates the use of local artisan products.
