Summary
Rays of Grace is a testament to strength and the human spirit. A tribute to the author’s mother, Marian Ciampa, who lost her battle with breast cancer at the age of forty-four, this story chronicles the life of a woman whose struggles with addiction and terminal illness are countered with undying perseverance, transcendent spirituality, and an unbreakable bond of love with her family. Simultaneously joyous and painful, Marian’s story is shared through the eyes of her only daughter. In Rays of Grace, author Melinda Ferreira describes the spiritual journey her mother embarks upon in the face of hardship, and even death itself. Fighting disease and alcoholism, she is forced her to confront her own mortality. With enhanced perspective and spiritual evolvement, she embraces the time which remains, consequently imprinting invaluable life lessons and experiences on her daughter and family. In this inspiring tale of strength and faith, Marian’s humanity is ultimately defined by the courage she displays in the face of bereavement, the grace she bestows on her family, and the profound impact of her life, death, and passion. This book serves as a tribute to all who have experienced grief, loss, or personal affliction, and provides solace and hope to those in need of healing.
About the Author
Born and raised in Boston, Massachusetts, Melinda Marian Ferreira developed an early love of literature and poetry when she discovered the works of New Englanders such as Ralph Waldo Emerson, Henry David Thoreau, and Robert Frost. Profoundly inspired by the sense of connection she felt within their words, she was compelled to write from a very early age. A firm believer that the power of such expression transcends time and place, Melinda’s influence is based in writings that cultivate human connection and understanding, whether through stories, poetry, or song. She is actively involved with child bereavement groups and breast cancer organizations. Melinda lives with her husband, Chris, on the Seacoast of New Hampshire.
