Summary
Does life have purpose and meaning? This question is a fount of anxiety which plagues mankind. No one has yet provided a definitive and believable answer that will allow humans to live in mental harmony. Angst and Evolution is a pragmatic investigation into life. It attempts to reveal and make sense of The Struggle for Human Potential. Evidence is gathered and synthesized from the scientific, mythic, literary and cultural experience gained by our presence on planet Earth. Although empirical methods are stressed, knowledge from all areas of inquiry is accepted as contributing valuable insight. This approach demonstrates that three discrete paradigms of human evolution - somatic, exosomatic and asomatic - can be directly traced from the purely material realm into the biological, cultural and spiritual arenas. Homo sapiens' emergent future is viewed from an elevated vision of hope seldom offered in today's technological milieu.
