Summary
To alleviate the worries and to provide the general public all the necessary information related to the anesthetic experience. Benjamin Taimoorazy,M.D has written, "BEFORE YOU GO UNDER." The inspiration for this 199 page book came from hundreds of questions Taimoorazy received from patients over his 14 year career as a Board Certified Anesthesiologist. In a clear and direct manner, Taimoorazy guides the reader through the step-by-step process of anesthesia, alleviating fears and addressing myths while also providing information unknown to most patients. Taimoorazy says, "In a time where movies and tales of " anesthesia gone wrong and being awake under anesthesia" instill a lack of confidence in the process of going under, I felt compelled to work on a manuscript that would address in simple terms, the most commonly asked questions and alleviate concerns by explaining some of the misconceptions related to the anesthetic experience." He adds that the knowledge gained in this book should provide the peace of mind and could potentially increase the safety and anesthetic and surgical procedures. BEFORE YOU GO UNDER, is without exception the first complete "step by step guide to ease your mind before going under anesthesia." The book addresses the basic concepts of anesthesia. The author then walks patients through topics such as testing before surgery, monituring vital signs during surgery, awareness (being awake) under anesthesia and how to prevent it, Claustrophobia, nausea, Sleep Apnea and other common concerns. Lastly the book addresses issues related to anesthesia after surgery.
