Summary

We were born into this world with a handicap, our sinful nature. Sin separated us from God when we did not yet know Him and continues to attenuate our relationship with Him even after our conversion. God’s recipe for our spiritual growth and maturity is to take us through the wilderness of impossible circumstances and to curtain these experiences with merciful deliverances. Through our trials, we learn that God’s intention was for us to live not by natural means alone, but by searching for, receiving, and obeying His word. We also learn to wait on God, to seek His face, to be patient and to persevere. In the process, we, like precious metals are tempered in the furnace and the result is the radiant beauty of holiness, purity, praise, faith, temperance, goodness, liberty of the spirit, clarity of vision and focus, and obedience. We discover the companionship of the Holy Spirit, the power source of God’s chosen ones---the Church. We discover that He is our comforter, our teacher, the source of our strength, the fire that will prove who God is in our generation. Through these experiences, children become full-grown men and women, who now know their Father, His intents and purposes for them, and like Daniel and his friends, are set to do His will at any cost. These are the manifested sons and daughters spoken of in Ephesians 3:10. These are types of Elijah who will contend against forces of the darkness of this world to set their captives free, and will stand in their unique places of destiny fully assured that their Heavenly Father will uphold them and preserve them until their works are done.
