Summary

Over a period of years, friends and fans have repeatedly asked me to put my life in writing, to put my experiences-in pro football, Hollywood, the Marines, and in life-down in print.

When I look back, I consider myself very fortunate.  Like a lot of people during the 1930s our family struggled.  That struggle only became greater when I was a teenager because of the death of my father, the main breadwinner.  Somehow, though, we persevered, and from those humble beginnings I went on to attend a prestigious private university, build successful careers in professional football and motion pictures, and provide for my family in a way my parents couldn't have dreamed.

This autobiography is a nostalgic and humorous journey through my life and my two careers.  This story will take readers behind the scenes during the glory years of professional football and the movie and television industry.  Those travels brought me into contact with some of the greats in each business, and in many cases I developed friendships that last until this day.  I hope you have as much fun reading about my life as I have had living it.
