Summary

Our Father's Images is a compilation of photographs that reflect the family of middle America in the late 1950's. The images are of 3 brothers growing up in Galesburg, Illinois taken by their Father with an eye that is part Diane Arbus and part Ansel Adams...but uniquely his own. His goal it seems was simple: to document the lives of his children and his family. To use photography for what it is best at, the preservation of memories...the capturing of one personal moment in time. Perhaps his intentions were nothing more than that. But the work itself has betrayed him, blown his cover.the vision, the way of seeing, could not be suppressed. The surprising photographs that he took and that appear in this book were no doubt only intended for the eyes of his family, but now with this publication they can be viewed and appreciated by a far greater audience and we are all the better for it.
