Summary

The Boxer's Workout is the boxing instructional classic, with over 30-thousand copies sold.  It clearly and systematically presents the non-contact floor workout program that professional and amateur boxers use to get in shape for actual competition - the same workout more men and women are turning to for deeper, more satisfying fitness.  With over 80 photo-illustrations, including unique multiple exposure photo-illustrations of the key punches and moves, The Boxer's Workout puts a safe, enjoyable and technically correct boxing workout easily within your reach.

The Boxer's Workout covers all you need to know: pre-conditioning, roadwork, diet, equipment, proper hand wrapping, the balanced stance, correct movement, the thinking and psychology behind the key punches and moves, the left jab, straight right, right cross, uppercut, left hook, combinations, blocking, parrying, slipping, opportunistic defense, counterpunching and developing your personal boxing style.  It explains the importance of a hard-easy approach to training, when and where to train including the pros and cons of training at home, fitness club and serious boxing gym, and how to choose a good trainer if you'd like a trainer.  It clearly presents the boxer's floor workout circuit; including warm-up, shadowboxing, mirror training, heavy bag, speed bag, jump rope, stomach routine, medicine ball and more.  It also offers guidelines on sparring and competition.

Author Peter DePasquale treats you like a friend, presenting the material in digestible amounts that are easy to understand, practice and retain.  Throughout the book you'll also experience the wisdom of legendary boxing trainers Al Gavin and Bob Jackson of New York's Gramercy Gym, who consulted on the technical content and helped to carefully choreograph the photo-illustrations.

Whether you're a boxing beginner or already have experience, whether you decide to get into the ring or not, rely on The Boxer's Workout as your invaluable training guide.

About the Author

Peter DePasquale is a successful boxer, trainer, manager and promoter.  He wrote The Boxer's Workout in 1987 to bring the benefits of a boxer's non-contact floor workout to those with little or no boxing experience.  Since that time The Boxer's Workout has come to be relied on by boxers at all levels as an essential guide to correct boxing technique.

Peter competed as an amateur boxer through the early 1980's while attending college.  He trained at New York's historic Gramercy Gym under legendary  trainers Al Gavin and Bob Jackson, who closely consulted on The Boxer's Workout.  A licensed manager and trainer, Peter managed, co-managed, trained or co-trained many successful amateurs and pros including USBA and NABF champions.  He teamed with his brother Luddy to form DePasquale Brothers, a leading boxing promotion company named "Promoter Of The Year" by the USBA.  Its shows have been telecast by USA Network and ESPN.
