Summary

THE FIRST BOOK FROM THE TEAM behind Inside LaCrosse Magazine, LACROSSE, North America’s Game is a turn-of-the-century snapshot of the continent’s original sport. This oversized 320-page, exquisite and lavishly illustrated coffee table book takes you on a visual journey through the “fastest game on two feet,” as the sport stands poised to explode into the 21st century. With a charismatic prologue written by lacrosse legend Roy Simmons, Jr., LACROSSE is a glossy, photographic encyclopedia of this great game. Chapters are dedicated to the sport’s Native American roots, men’s and women’s college, the pro indoor and outdoor games, Canadian and international lacrosse, the final four, summer ball, the lacrosse industry, culture, and the modern athlete.

About the Author

Inside Lacrosse Magazine was founded in 1997 by Robert Carpenter. As the publication grew over the years, the choicest photography and story ideas that rolled through the offices would be filed away. Year after year, this special collection of material began to bulge and eventually became the backbone of LACROSSE, North America’s Game. This book is a culmination of eight years of publishing. This book is meant to paint a picture of lacrosse through photograph and written word. In many ways, it signifies the magazine’s history and the evolution that has landed the magazine where it is today. But in many other ways it signifies the future, and where the magazine is headed as they continue to cover this sport that is so dynamic and truly unique.
