Summary
Dragons wind their 'tails'
throughout the 'tales' in this book of short stories. From the balmy
Mediterranean to cold British Isles, from imperial Chinese palaces to
mammoth Aztec temples, splendid winged creatures interact with sailors,
astrologers, priests, merchants, and laundrymen, in vivid settings packed
with exciting action and laced with humor. It is a blend of 'historical
fantasy' and new mythology that dracophiles will read over and over.
An exotic treasure attracts both pirates and privateers in 'Celestial
Wisdom.' 'Atlantis' and 'Quetzalcoatl' provide new looks at old legends; in
'The Garden,' two young people learn of life, love, and loyalty. Behind
'The Wall,' the Emperor's dragons frolic amid court intrigue, while
'Plague' becomes the least of a village cobbler's woes. 'The Place
Between' descends into a dark realm of enchantment, and an old woman
recalls the summer that changed her life forever in 'Irinova Remembers.'
Immigrants harbor an odd pet in 'Beautiful Origin,' and fishermen look for
'Nessie' but come home empty-handed.
The post-Harry-Potter teen crowd will enjoy this book, as will adult
fantasy readers and, of course, dragon aficionados of all ages.

Author's Bio
Author Candy Taylor
Tutt is the granddaughter of a Montana cattle rancher. Of her childhood in
southern California, Tutt says, "I was a nerdy little bookworm. I read all the
time and began pecking out stories on mom's portable typewriter when I was
seven." Twenty-five years later when she moved to rural northern California, she
was still pecking out stories, which have appeared in Marion Zimmer Bradley's
Fantasy Magazine, Spellbound, and other publications.
Then a friend gave
her a book on dragons, and changed her life.
"I was fascinated.
I read everything I could find about them in ancient myths, fairy tales and
legends, and eventually began creating my own dragon lore." Tutt refers to her
stories, some of which are based on actual people and incidents, as 'historical
fantasy,' filling the gap between Harry Potter and Tolkien. "It has wide appeal;
it's fantasy for people who don't normally read fantasy."
Also a
prize-winning jewelry designer and artist, she lives near Sacramento,
California, with her husband Tony, their cats, and a houseful of dragons.
