Summary
"Not Long Before the Morning
Light.. and in time for the Celebration of True Light" shares
with others reflections by the author of Christmas over the
years... memories...
the many meanings of Christmas to
her... and expresses
that "Christmas" comes to each of us in our own personal
moments... at a different time... in a different way... those
moments when our spirits become touched by some little thing...
tangible but mostly intangible... and perhaps whether we realize
it or not... by the happenings of That Very First Christmas and
the Christ Child. Oftentimes its what we do for someone... with
someone... family or friend. It may cause the reader to reflect on
his own memories of Christmas and realize what Christmas has come
to mean and why. It is a hearth-and heart-warmed book of moments
spent in a church somewhere or around the Christmas tree with
family... friends... and pet friends.
From
the Book...
Christmas
Postscript
As I close this greeting... I'm reminded that my Christmas tree
has called to me strongly one more year and helped me to understand
that it and its twinkling lights and shiny ornaments are so
important to Christmas... and yes, I must put the tree up and
did... long about 2:00 o'clock in the morning a few nights
ago... not long before the morning light... and in time for the
celebration of The True Light.
I wish
you that light always.
About
the Author
Though living in northern
Virginia most of her adult life, author "Zim" Goings
supposes that real Christmas came to her first as a small child in
a Methodist children's home in Macon, Georgia, among a hundred or
so orphaned children or ones of unfortunate circumstances. As
Christmases have come and gone she has found that all sorts of
happenings in our lives come together to tell about how we look at
Christmas. She enjoys an active spiritual life and loves and is
loved by two children and three grandchildren and many friends...
as well as two feline friends. She seems to have brought childhood
Christmas to the lives of her children, and they into the lives of
their own children. They have helped to keep it in hers. She believes
that Christmas and life in general are about sharing... and about
the Christmas child and others.
Notes
to the Author
"Thanks for
sending me the next-to-last copy of the initial printing of your
book. You seem to have a very full life that offers many rewards
to you. (Of course, every life has its difficulties, but you
minimize them gracefully.) Reading it was like sitting with you
and hearing you talk to me. I'm glad I have it. Ann"
"Dear
Aunt Bernadine...thank you for Zimmie's book. It is great; she
must be a very special person. I'm sure we'll pick it up over and
over again. Its a good one for the bedside table."
"Beautifully
worded...spiritually guided."
"I spent a very quiet, late
evening with my Christmas tree and all the lights and candles
twinkling in the dark reading "Not Long Before Morning the Light." The words you have written are lovely and touched my
heart in many writings. I know I will read it again and
again."
"I couldn't wait to read the
book. I had some things I needed to do before sitting down to
read, but I caught myself picking it up and reading a page or two
between chores. Needless to say I read it all before the sunset.
It is a delightful book, and it brought back many memories for me.
Your sweetness, your gentleness and your caring certainly show
with every word. The Light shines through!"
"As soon as I received the
book I sat and read it through and enjoyed it immensely. I feel a
great deal of love fills your heart... your family and friends are
very fortunate."
"Thank you very much, dear
friend, for the wonderful publication of your Christmas
reflections of past years. It is truly an inspiring keepsake. We
wish for you indeed the fullness of Christmas joy, you who bring
so much joy to the lives of countless others."
"Reading your book has made
me think of my Christmas memories and traditions and how important
they are to me." "Thank you for your book. It
was so enjoyable! I'm so proud of you and the work you do for our
Lord." |
