Proofreading
At BookMasters, accuracy is key to everything we do. From design to
distribution, it is our goal to produce high quality, error-free
books.
Whether we provide the keystrokes (full input) or the coding and
formatting, we pride ourselves on the accuracy of our work. By
eliminating errors and inconsistencies early on, we're able to
produce excellent pages at first proofs. This not only saves
valuable time and money, it lets publishers and authors know we are
dedicated to producing the highest standards of excellence in
typography.
Our proofreading staff —both in-house and freelance— have passed
the BookMasters' proofreading exam and are well versed in a wide
range of subjects, which include accounting, business, computer
economics, insurance, statistics, marketing, health, social
services, and education.
The steps taken by our detail-oriented proofreading department
ensure that a finished product is of the highest quality. First, we
assess the accuracy of the copyeditor and make sure all the edits
have been correctly incorporated into the pages. Second, the
proofreader reexamines all elements of the book to make sure they
are consistent and meet all the requirements as per specifications
and design. Lastly, the proofreader checks to make sure corrections
to first- and second-pass proofs are correct and consistent with the
project's specifications. When the proofreader sees any
inconsistencies, they alert the project director and suggestions,
when appropriate, will be passed onto the publisher or author.
The dedicated efforts of our
proofreading team help enable us to provide accurate and consistent
pages that quite often receive compliments from publishers and
authors who appreciate our fine service.
