This book compiles the proceedings of the 18th Annual BERTRAND RUSSELL PEACE LECTURES delivered by international legal expert Francis A. Boyle at the Centre for Peace Studies, McMaster University, in January, 2007. Titled “The Legacy of Bertrand Russell: Principle Confronting Power,” the lectures addressed two subjects of pressing concern: Palestine, Palestinians and International Law The National Campaign to Impeach President George W. Bush.

An extensive Afterword updates the book to the October 17th, 2007 press conference in which George W. Bush terrorized the world with the prospect of World War III if the Iranian government were to acquire even the knowledge to make nuclear weapons.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Francis A. Boyle is a leading American professor, practitioner and advocate of international law. He was responsible for drafting the Biological Weapons Anti-Terrorism Act of 1989, the American implementing legislation for the 1972 Biological Weapons Convention. He served on the Board of Directors of Amnesty International (1988-1992), and represented Bosnia-Herzegovina at the World Court. Professor Boyle teaches international law at the University of Illinois, Champaign, author of, inter alia, World Politics and International Law, The Future of International Law and American Foreign Policy, Foundations of World Order,  The Bosnian People Charge Genocide, The Criminality of Nuclear Deterrence, Palestine, Palestinians and International Law, Destroying World Order, and Biowarfare & Terrorism. He holds a Doctor of Law Magna Cum Laude as well as a Ph.D. in Political Science, both from Harvard University.
