Cover Template Services

BookMasters, Inc. has upgraded our cover template services. Designed with the customer in mind, our upgraded Web-based service allows customers to request cover and die stamp layouts for any binding style to specific individual printing conditions. By simply filling out our online form with basic information, our estimate customers will receive a workable file in their preferred supported page layout format. Being custom-built for projects, these templates are produced to exacting sizes with all appropriate guides and rule lines placed, allowing the customer to populate them with the assurance that they will meet the needs of their projects from design to production. Templates are returned via email to the customer or directly to the designer and are produced during normal business hours. The current supported return template formats are Adobe Indesign CS2 through CS4 (.INDD), Quark Xpress versions 6 though 8 (.QXD), Adobe Photoshop (.PSD), and Adobe Illustrator (.AI) (.EPS). A non-workable PDF file can also be requested so individuals who may be working in an unsupported page layout program can still have access to accurate layout specifications prior to file submission. To take advantage of the template generator, visit http://www.bookmasters.com/services/covergenerator.htm and get your template now.

Concepts Every Best Selling Book Should Have

The production of books has become a pretty common practice than ever before.  The latest technologies and impressive pub houses have made it easier than ever.  Even though it has become so easy, you must keep in mind which books are actually selling.  After the books are back from the printer/publisher, it is time to make your prize possession a “selling book.”

Listed are some helpful tips to make your book a bestseller:

  1. Title- Is it gripping, interesting? Would one know what it’s about without reading anything else?
  2. Cover- People do judge a book by its cover.  Make sure it has enough appeal to stand out on the shelves among the thousands of other books.  Remember to hire a professional.

At BookMasters, we don’t limit your options when it comes to cover design. You can choose either our stock cover design program or have our top-quality, in-house artist design just the right custom cover for you.

We offer a selection of eye-catching designs in combinations that you can mix and match to suit the mood and tone of your book. Created by our graphic artists, we have put the most popular formats in the industry together with an easy-to-use online form. Simply customize colors, textures, layout, and typestyles that fit your concept and receive a free no-obligation quote on impressive, affordable cover design printing!

BookMasters’ cover design department is dedicated to creating attractive, eye-catching covers ranging from the most basic layout to complex compositions involving numerous printing devices such as die cuts, embossing, and foil stamping. Each cover is created individually to ensure that the customer’s vision for their cover is fully represented in the final product. Clients communicate directly with their designer throughout the entire creation process and are encouraged to make suggestions and revisions until final approval is given. BookMasters’ goal is to exceed our customer’s expectations of their cover design.

Cover designs may be digitally generated on computer-graphic workstations or begin as drawings or paintings crafted in our own art studio, a studio that is staffed by artists who are formally trained and experienced in both fine and commercially oriented art.

Customers may also supply photographs or art elements that can be incorporated into the final composition. All BookMasters covers are finished as digital files that are archived electronically and can be revised and reprinted as often as the client desires.  Cover designs can also be transferred to electronic media such as CDs or DVDs for the customer’s own personal or promotional use.

3.  Endorsements- What others say about you is key.  Pull together the “best words from the best people.”  It will pre-sell your book.

4.  Writers Credentials-  Do you have an audience that actually likes what you write?

5.  Knowledge of the Market the book will reach and the author’s reputation in that market-   The author must create a market for himself by really addressing the needs of that market, knowing that market and communicating the right message to that market.

6.  Advertising- Targeting the right message to the right media at the right time.

7.  Media coverage- Publicity.  Getting on radio, TV, and in newspapers and magazines.

8.  Distribution-  If you want your book to be a best seller, you have to have your book available. AtlasBooks Distribution is the #1 source publishers turn to for their complete publishing needs. In conjunction with BookMasters’ direct-to-consumer fulfillment, AtlasBooks prepares, processes, and ships all the orders to both trade accounts and consumers. AtlasBooks Distribution will also manage all tasks associated with dissemination of title information to industry databases—a vital step in the selling process. 9.   Word of Mouth-  The best advertising.  How do you get people talking about your book? By engaging in their culture and creating messages in the media.

BookMasters/AtlasBooks does not formally endorse these guidelines.  These do not guarantee a bestseller; they will only guide in the right direction.

Regional Trade Shows
GLIBA Recap

Randy McKenzie, National Sales Manager

The 2009 Great Lakes Independent Booksellers Association Tradeshow was such a positive experience and a very exciting time for AtlasBooks.  The show included 55 exhibitors and 392 bookstore memberships.

The two author signings at the AtlasBooks booth were major successes.

Our first author signing was Joe Vitale, Backstage Pass, Stories From the Road & In the Studio with Crosby, Stills & Nash, Dan Fogelberg, Peter Frampton, The Eagles, Ted Nugent, Joe Walsh, Neil Young, and many more.  His wife, Susie Vitale was there for the signing.  The renowned drummer Joe Vitale takes you back stage for a rare and intimate look behind the scenes, as told to his wife Susie Vitale.  Backstage Pass is a personal, humorous, and nostalgic history in stories of on the road and in the studio over 40 years of his rock and roll drumming career.

The second signing was Jason Barger, Step Back From the Baggage Claim.  Jason Barger wrote about spending 7 straight days flying 6,548 miles to 7 different cities living only in the airports the entire time.  He studied 10,000 minutes of observations at all 4 corners of the U.S. and reflected on how all airport experiences can teach us about our lives today.

“The AtlasBooks staff had a great time networking, building new relationships, and supporting the independent booksellers.  We cannot wait to attend GLIBA next year!”
