In the Spotlight:
Jennifer Kelton, Author of
Don't Use My Sweater
Like a Towel

Internet dating. Speed dating. Match makers. Personal ads. The quest for the perfect soul mate seems to never end! Jennifer Kelton spent a year investigating the dating scene and tells all in her new book Don't Use My Sweater Like A Towel.

Jam-packed with revealing surveys, scientific research, and humorous x-rated episodes, Don't Use My Sweater Like A Towel is NOT your parent's dating book. “The book is a raw, real, no-holds barred look at dating, relationships, love and human nature in the 21st century,” Jennifer explains. “The goal is to get people thinking about their own life and choices."

After ending a long term relationship, Jennifer was suddenly thrown back into the dating scene. "What I was experiencing out in dating and mating land was shocking," she says. All the self-help and dating books were of no help. "I realized how little information there was out there. I decided to document a year of my life and 12 men along with science and surveys that reflect the encounters and questions that came up for me during that time."

Don't Use My Sweate Like a Towel by Jennifer Kelton ... Green Knights PressIn addition to her own personal observations, Jennifer pulled in a collection of people who added their own opinions. "For many months I always had questionnaires with me and would ask questions to anyone that was willing to answer them," she says. "I would stop people everywhere I went."

This "in the trenches" approach has helped Jennifer create a reality-based book on dating and mating for the 21st century. She hopes that her experiences will help people better understand how men and women interact with each other as well as create a dialogue between the two.

When not "dating and mating", Jennifer enjoys snowboarding, running, working out, and enjoying food and wine. She is currently working on her second book "I'm not a Monday Girl".

What the critics are saying:

"A woman dates 12 men over the course of a year in the name of science... Written in a chatty, brisk style, the book is most engaging when Kelton attempts to follow the dating rules offered by various self-help books... The chapter in which she orders pheromones from the Internet and enlists her friends as test subjects is especially amusing... A fun, intriguing premise."

- Kirkus Discoveries

"Part memoir, part amateur experiment, Don't Use My Sweater Like A Towel is an absolutely uncensored, at times sexually graphic memoir of author Jennifer Kelton's dating and sex life, and her surprisingly structured experiments to discern precisely how much value and accuracy lies in the myriad of dating self-help books and advice available today. Kelton was unable to bear children for medical reasons, and therefore was not under pressure from a biological clock, yet she was searching for the right man to share her life with - most of Don't Use My Sweater Like A Towel recounts the men that she dated, all of whom eventually proved unsuitable for a long-term relationship with her, but many of whom remained good friends after the sex ended. Perhaps the most valuable advice in Don't Use My Sweater Like A Towel is the importance of having confidence in oneself and respect for others; the author's open story of her dating life certainly proves to be an invaluable and enriching experience."
