In January's Author Spotlight:
Steeling N. Clausey,
Author of SINFULNYMS

Steeling N. Clausey

If you're like most of us, you've used acronyms from time to time to get a point across without having to say the real meaning. The problem was there were never enough acronyms to convey all the thoughts you'd really like to say, but were afraid to. With author Steeling N. Clausey's new outrageously funny and over the top book, SINFULNYMS, that will never be the case again.

Although Steeling has a baby face and stands all of 3 1/2 feet tall, he is well over 350 years old.The 2nd oldest of 752 siblings, Steeling says that coming from a small family makes for a very close knit one.  "You should see how lively the conversation gets around the holidays," he laughs. Since Steeling's body heat exceeds 450 degrees to the touch, we had to have special chair made for him to sit on when we conducted this interview. Luckily he doesn't radiate heat or no one would be able to be near him. Steeling's a very personable demon, obviously he leans toward what some would call the demented side, but I found his twisted perspective funny and unassuming.

When asked how he came up with the concept of SINFULNYMS, Steeling replied, "When I was at DV8 University I wanted to be able to communicate with my classmates via instant messaging and email without the faculty being able to decipher the true meanings."  The first SINFULNYM Steeling sent to Steamer, his best friend, was DETAIN (Don't Even Think About It Nitwit). Steeling & Steamer soon had the student body and faculty exchanging SINFULNYMS and hence the cult following was born. "Over the years the list grew and I'd share my creations with a select group of friends.  Well, the group sent it to their friends and so on and so on." he says.

Years later, Steeling decided to compile all his SINFULNYMS into an illustrated "reference manual". "This collection of SINFULNYMS is a treasure you can share with anyone ... well, almost anyone," he says. "It begs to be used liberally in e-mail and instant messaging endeavors." As the title suggests, these are not words one would utter at the dinner table, nor are they for the faint of heart. SINFULNYMS is to be embraced by a more sophisticated and sensuous reader. So, sit back and enjoy one of the most innovative adult coffee-table books to come out in years and get ready to broaden your vocabulary and horizons.
