Fun In the Spotlight: Mike Lorelli
Author of Traveling Again, Dad?

With AtlasBooks since 2002, author Mike Lorelli has logged as many as 300,000 flight-miles a year while fulfilling his duties as CEO, placing him away from home up to 90% of the year. Having traveled extensively and "eaten pizza in 44 countries," he has been able to help his children become "global" by providing them many international experiences over the years. Separation from family and the myriad of fears children face when a parent has to be away prompted Lorelli to create Traveling Again, Dad? an endearing and educational story for families with a family member who must travel.

Narrated by Awesome the hampster, Lorelli's story is one of communication and education that includes family in the travels of a parent who must be away for work. Traveling Again, Dad? has received rave reviews from the likes of USA Today, the Los Angeles Times and the Associated Press, which can be viewed online at Lorelli's website http://www.lorelli.net/book.html.

Familiar with the obstacles parents face in maintaining ties with their kids when they have to be away for work, from phone calls to faxing tic-tac-toe games back and forth in the days before email, Lorelli chose include some of these issues in the book. Readers will find it covers how to communicate, "where are they now?" and fears children can have when a parent is away, all simply incorporated into this delightful story.

Lorelli had the opportunity to work with illustrator Drew Struzan while promoting his company's products along with the movie "Indiana Jones" and it was decided that Struzan would create the illustrations for Traveling Again, Dad?  Many of you will recognize Struzan's work as the artist who created the Indiana Jones movie posters and many other films such as E.T., Blade Runner, Terminator, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone, Star Wars and many more. More about Drew Struzan and samples of his artwork can be seen by visiting http://www.drewstruzan.com/.

The images appearing on this webpage have been taken from the book and will hopefully capture the emotion and dynamic message found in Traveling Again, Dad?  Lorelli's family appears in the book and although his daughters are now in their twenties, and "Awesome" the hampster has since gone on to Hampster Heaven, kids and parents alike will enjoy both the artwork and the message of being involved.
