Arthyr W. Chadbourne, author of
ANCIENT WHISPERS FROM CHALDEA

To the untrained eye, it seems patently absurd that an astrology chart may be something more than a wheel with strange symbols randomly placed in pie-shaped spaces. But, to the trained eye, the planetary hosts write their universal messages for all to see. With astrology, we recognize providence within the solar system in terms of the human experience.

Now providence is defined as divine direction, physical laws concerning the whole progress of things subject to innate future changes or motion in any manner; providence, then, includes all things at the same time. Relating to the inherent timing of such changes, the ancients considered these changes or motions as fate. So fate was controlling the motion and change of individual things in different places and in different times.

This philosophy of providence and fate led to mankind’s associating familiar star patterns with seasonal changes. And so, with each passing year, the association between recurring constellations and different seasons, proved more and more reliable.  Over the centuries, this association between the constellations and seasonal changes eventually gave rise to the concept that if the stars could be relied upon to predict each season, then all future events must certainly be pre-arranged by providence and therefore must somehow be foretold by the stars as well. Within this concept, celestial divination began.

Cuneiform texts from early Chaldean astronomers declare that the planets are god-like dignitaries who influence the duties and functions of humanity here on earth. However, as astrology became known to different cultures, a variety of different traditional beliefs were added that greatly modified the original concepts.  Such changes resulted in diverse ideas and defined astrology into new and different forms.

The most dramatic transformation with astrology came about during the Hellenistic period. Planets were still considered as gods and goddesses but the Greek scholars placed them within the boundaries of the zodiacal signs of thirty-degrees each. And, instead of helping mankind, planet-gods amused them-selves by interfering with the lives of the human race. For centuries this idea continued on into the Renaissance period where understanding and redefining traditional, seasonal astrology reached its pinnacle.

During the last century, contemporary astrology has undergone another complete change and has done so by ignoring traditional understanding. The seasonal concepts have now given way to psychological references. As such, many astrologers today only add to the confusion by creating new, unproven theories thereby producing even more confusion to the mix.

This confusion with modern astrological principles led Mr. Chadbourne to investigate and seek the foundation and possible beginnings of astrology. After twenty-six years of research, and with the help of many Eastern Study students, Ancient Whispers from Chaldea, uncovered very subtle indicators about astrological lore that may have begun alongside the early stages of astronomy.

Although Ancient Whispers from Chaldea, reveals how celestial patterns and planets reflect events here on earth, it is written in two parts; a historical overview and a practical guide to understanding the procedure of astrology. Within its pages, the reader will discover how to use the principles of astrology in our everyday world with techniques that have persisted throughout time. Included, is one of many astounding discoveries, recognizing that a lifetime of events is found within the framework of the twenty-four hour period on the day you were born! As astrologers, we have learned to truly read our destiny in the stars.
