My Life Behind the Mic
OverviewSTAY TUNED MY LIFE BEHIND THE MIC is a memoir about Bill Diehl's career. It begins with his early days as a teenage DJ in his hometown, Corning, New York. He moved on to Ithaca College working at a radio station there. His next stop was Washington, D.C. where he did radio and TV at the CBS station, WTOP. In the late 60s he became a newscaster at New York's premiere music and news station, WNEW. The ABC Radio Network came calling in 1971 where Diehl was a news correspondent covering some of the biggest news events but he also began interviewing major celebrities and by the early 80's he was covering the major award shows, Oscars, Emmys, Grammys and Tonys. The book is a fascinating look at the world of news, show biz and great stars including interviews with the greats from Cher and Sean Connery to Lauren Bacall and Tom Hanks. The book has received praise from the likes of Barbara Walters, Regis Philbin, Leonard Maltin among others. As Cinema Retro Editor-in-Chief Lee Pfeiffer put it, "a literary time machine that both informs and delights"
